This beautiful knob was made by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company around the mid-19th Century. The company was incorporated in 1826 and its glass factory was built in Sandwich, Massachusetts. According to researcher Ruth Lee, glass knobs were among the earliest articles made at the factory.
This molded knob is the size of most door knobs, but it was meant to be used on a dresser or chest. The knob is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. The in-depth pattern on the top is also intact. This one comes with its original bolt.
The knob measures 2 1/4 inches in diameter and projects from the surface 1 5/8 inches. The base measures 1 5/8 inches across.
