This stunning entry door set has the long back plate for the,guest-side or front-side of the door and a rosette and matching,key escutcheon for the backside. This family (all came from the,same location and stayed together) is of the less-common nickel,finish. , ,On the back of the back plate is “M. W, Co.” which identifies this,set with the Mallory, Wheeler and Company of New Haven, Connecticut,,established in 1834.,In the industry, they were known for their exquisite, high quality hardware.,Their expertise in the field of ornamental hardware was undisputed. ,However, they went bankrupt in 1913 and went out of business. , ,The 8 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ back plate has two key holes of which either one or,both can be used. The lower key hole is backset at 2 1/4″ and the ,upper key hole is at 3 1/2″. The rosette is 1 7/8″ round. The key,escutcheon is 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4″. The door knobs are 2 1/4″ in size. ,Screws are provided., ,The scarcity of this set is obvious. It is in excellent condition and ,has no scratches or dings.
