Who says this beauty has to be placed on a fence! This iron finial has the muted colors of the Art Deco period (1920-1940). Most of the paint is intact. The motif is the French fleur-de-lis. This stylized lily has been used to represent French royalty. Today we think of its design as signifying perfection, light, and life.
The finial’s pattern and paint are on one side only. The “lily” is a poured cast iron piece. The flower measures 5 1/8 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches across. The stem is 1 1/2 inches long and 5/8 inch wide.
