This key hole cover is for a door. This brass (or cast bronze) escutcheon comes from the Eastlake era (1870-1890). It was to be used on the backside of a door that had a full back plate and door knob on the front, or on a door of less visibility that used only door knobs and rosettes. The geometric pattern is heavily embossed into the escutcheon.
The cover measures 1 3/4 inches by 1 inch. We will send screws with the cover.
