Some people in the early 20th Century did not care for the swing-bail pulls with the fancy full back plates. Their life-style and furniture was more casual and simple. Thus, many dressers and chests of drawers had the plain swing bail that hung from posts.
This pull consists of one bail, two posts, and two small back plates. The solid brass bail measures 3 1/2 inches wide and hangs from the posts 1 1/4 inches. The bail does not lay flat. It has a bow in the middle, and, as the photo shows, has unusual shaped ends. The round ended posts are also brass. They insert into the front of the drawer, and a screw is fed into the back of the drawer and threads into the post.
Behind each post, is a very small 3/4 round brass-coated plate. Through the years, these little ones have been dented and dinged.
We have not cleaned this pull, but left it with its years of patina. One could polish the bail and posts to a bright brass. Screws are included.
