This cast brass key escutcheon is small enough to nicely go on a drawer or secretary drop-leaf door, but this one actually came off of a passage door. It accompanied 1880s door hardware. Key escutcheons on doors are used to cover the key hole underneath the door knob rosette. This one is smaller than most.
The key hole cover measures 1 3/8 inches vertically and 1 1/8 inches across. Because of the large holes, small brass screws will be included for mounting this escutcheon.
