This Eastlake-era latch is a large latch which probably came off of a good-sized cupboard or cabinet. It is heavy cast iron with a bronze “T” turn knob. We date this one to before 1900.
The latch box measures 2 1/4 inches by 1 5/8 inches. It has a spring mechanism which is in good working order. A patent date of “11-90” is stamped on the bottom of the latch. The matching keeper measures 2 1/4 inches by 5/8 inch. The projected height of the piece including the tall turn T is 1 5/8 inches.
This is an exceptional piece. Don’t hesitate too long on this rare find. We will include the mounting screws.
