Elbow latches can be purchased in about any hardware store today. The new ones, however, are light weight and stamped metal. This one is an old one, larger, heavier, and cast iron! Often the elbow latch was installed on the upper edge, on the inside, of the left door of a cabinet or cupboard. The right-hand door was opened and then one would reach in and unlatch the left-hand door. These latches are found on old kitchen cabinets and other miscellaneous cupboards. The back plate of the latch measures 1 3/8 inches by 5/8 inches. The neck of the latch extends 1 5/8 inches from its base. This latch consists of two pieces.
