This full mortise lock for a passage door is from the Victorian era, dating before 1900. The box is cast iron while the front plate of the lock is cast brass or cast bronze. The pattern is Eastlake. The lock was made by “Branford.”
The box measures 3 inches deep and 3 1/2 inches vertically. It is 1/2 inch thick. The opening for the door knob spindle is 7/8 inch from the top and 7/8 inch from the back side. The key hole is the same distance from the back side.
The lock is in good working order, with a strong snappy spring. A key is included.
