This pocket door lock set is from the Eastlake era from 1870 to 1890. The mortise lock front plate and the door pull plates are heavily decorated in the Eastlake motif. There are four pieces to this set: two door plates, a mortise lock, and a key. This set was made for a single door.
The mortise lock measures 5 inches vertically and 3 1/4 inches deep. The heavy box is 1/2 inch thick. The heavy cast bronze front plate to the mortise lock measures 7 inches vertically, 1 1/8 inches wide, and 1/4-inch thick. The front plate has the Eastlake fan, geometric designs, and clover leaves. A push button releases a pull handle for ease of pulling the door shut. It measures 1 1/4 inches and projects from the plate one inch. There is room for one finger in the pull.
Each door plate, one for each side of the door, measures 4 3/8 inches vertically and 2 1/4 inches across. They appear to be cast bronze. The inset, that is embedded into the door, is 1/2-inch deep and has a key hole. The round inset measures 1 3/4 inches round.
This is a fine antique. Screws will be included.
