This stamped metal back plate come from the Eastlake era, 1870 to 1890. It has a brass or bronze finish. Often in the pre-1900 era, manufacturers used bronze rather than brass for their finishes. It is difficult to tell the difference. This beautiful plate has the Victorian flair, but because of its size and distinctive look, we call this one Eastlake.
The back plate measures 5 3/8 inches vertically and 1 7/8 inches horizontally. The keyhole is 2 1/8 inches below the door knob hole. There is a slight 3/16 inch bevel to this plate, which means the plate does not lie perfectly flat against the door. We will provide the screws.
