This large black-painted knob comes from the Eastlake era, 1870-1890. It has a bolt that goes all the way through the knob, projecting 1 1/2 inches from the base. The bolt has its original nut. This old knob was found as you see it; no brass plate on the top of the knob.
The knob measures 1 3/8 inches across the top. The belly of the knob is 1 1/2 inches. There is a short, thick neck with a base measuring 1 1/8 inches across. The knob projects 1 1/2 inches from the surface.
This is a fine old piece. The paint is almost perfect, with a shine. We are guessing this knob came from one of those wonderful Eastlake dressers.
