This large wood knob is from the Eastlake era of 1870 to 1890. It was factory painted in black. This knob probably came off of a dresser or sideboard drawer. The knob has the typical brass cap.
The knob measures 1 5/8 inches across and projects 1 1/4 inches from the surface of the drawer. It base is one inch across. The embedded bolt projects from the base 1 1/4 inches. There is an old nut included.
