Interestingly, the oval beaded-edged back plates were so popular in the early 20th Century that we find various sizes. This one is a middle size. It measures 5 1/8 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide. Like the others, it is stamped steel with a copper plating and then flashed with a black lacquer. The piece is in good condition with some surface ware. Of course, this one does not have a key hole. It was used like a rosette with an accompanying key hole cover or by itself on a door with no locking system. Screws will be included.
