This half-mortise hinge dates to around 1900 to 1920s. It has the flashed copper treatment. The hinge and finish are in very good condition. The plain half of the hinge is embedded (mortised) into the frame of the door, while the butterfly half is fastened to the front of the door. This mounting causes the spine and finials to protrude from the door and allows the door to swing freely. The hinge can be used on either a left-hand door or a right-hand door, by switching the hinge pin.
The plain half of the hinge measures 4 inches vertically and 1 3/4 inches wide. The fancy half of the hinge measures 4 inches vertically and 2 1/2 inches wide. From ball finial tip to ball finial tip is 5 1/4 inches. Screws will be provided.
