This unusual single hinge is from the early 1900s. It still has its beautiful flashed copper finish. The hinge can be used on either a left-hand door or a right-hand door, by switching the hinge pin. It is a half-mortise hinge meaning that the small half of the hinge is embedded into the frame of the door and the butterfly half is fastened onto the front of the door. This causes the spine and finials to protrude from the surface and allows the door to swing freely.
The plain half of the hinge measures 3 1/2 inches vertically and 1 1/2 inches wide. The fancy, butterfly hinge half measures 3 1/2 inches vertically and 3 inches wide at the widest point. From finial tip to finial tip is 4 3/4 inches.
We have cleaned and oiled this hinge. Screws will be provided.
