This beautiful set of butterfly hinges could be for a small door or for a larger cabinet or cupboard. The pair dates to the early 20th Century. Here at the store we simply say the “flashed copper era.” From 1900 to the 1920s, the flashed copper treatment was very popular. Hardware of all kinds was coated with copper and then flashed with a black lacquer. This pair also has the ball finials, which are early 20th Century.
The hinges measure 2 1/2 inches. They are off-set by 3/8 inch (to the bottom of the spine). The butterfly leaf and spine are exposed on the outside of the door, while the flat leaf is on the jam. The butterfly leaf measures 2 inch across and 2 1/2 inches vertically. The flat leaf is 2 1/2 inches by 1 inch.
These are used, but in very good condition. You might want to build a cupboard just to use these beauties.
Bronze screws are included.
