This cast-brass pair is heavier than most. One reason is that the three-dimensional swing bails hang from heavy round cast-brass posts. The pair is also not the typical Victorian type. It has flowers and leaves and is highly decorated, but is different.
The back plate measures 3 7/8 inches across and 1 1/2 inches vertically. The pattern has a center daisy-like flower with leaves extending from the left and right. The bails are unlike anything else we have seen. The heavy rope-like pattern is on the front and backside. The 3/8-inch wide posts are riveted to the back plate and extend with mounting bolts, which are inserted from the front. These bolts are 1 1/2 inches long. The pulls are secured on the back of the drawer with nuts (included).
We have only lightly cleaned this pair. As they sit in our drawer, they will get darker and will age in color. That is the nature of this old brass.
