This substantial icebox latch is for a right-swing door. The matching keeper is to be mounted on the box or frame. It is a 3/8-inch off-set latch. (The latch is 3/8 inch higher than the keeper.)
The latch is nickel plated, but a little of the nickeling has rubbed off. This gives the piece a look of being aged, which it is—it is marked with a patented date of 1901.
The latch’s back plate measures 2 1/2 inches vertically and 1 1/4 inches wide. The lever handle is 3 3/4 inches long. The keeper (or catch) has a back plate that measures 2 1/2 inches vertically and one inch wide. The keeper’s projection is 1 3/4 inches.
This is a fine old latch. These are very difficult to find with both pieces still together. We will include nickel-plated screws.
