Around the turn of the 20th Century, claw feet on furniture was popular. This set of claw-over-glass feet probably graced an organ stool or a parlor table. This is a matching set of four. The glass balls are in excellent shape, with no cracks or chips.
Each cast iron leg cap measures 3 1/2 inches in length, including the glass ball. The ball is 1 1/4 inches in diameter. The pattern portrays a leg and claw of a hawk or eagle. The cap is tapered, starting at 3/4 inch at the top and gradually diminishing to about 1/2 inch. There is a hole at the top of the cap for a screw to secure the leg cap to the table or stool leg. The depth of the leg cap is 2 inches.
