This old refrigerator latch probably came off of a large cooler like seen in a meat market or flower shop. The heavy iron piece was made by the Polar Hardware Company in Chicago, Illinois. The two parts consists of the latch which has a strong spring and its keeper.
The latch’s back plate measures 3 inches horizontally and 2 3/4 inches vertically. The lever is 4 1/2 inches long. The keeper’s back plate measures 1 3/8 inches horizontally and 2 3/4 inches vertically. It stands 1 1/2 inches high.
The manufacturers name is stamped on the back. No screws are included with this one.
