This old latch came from a shed or barn that had been painted red. The paint still lingers on this working hardware. The black iron latch is the sliding bolt style with a loop keeper. A padlock can also be inserted to secure the door.
The latch can be mounted either on a left-hand door or a right-hand door, and in turn, the loop keeper can be placed on the left or right side of the bolt latch. The latch’s back plate measures 4 inches horizontally and 2 3/8 inches vertically. The bolt extends 2 1/4 inches beyond the back plate on either side.
The receiving loop, or keeper, has a plate that measures 1 1/2 inches vertically and 1 3/4 inches horizontally. The loop extends one inch from the surface. This piece is fastened to the frame of the door with four screws.
Screws will be included.
