The sea shell is a popular motif used on Victorian hardware. Here we have a “Shell” image in stamped brass surrounded by leaves. The small back plate is paired with a large wide steel bail which was also a popular practice in the very early 1900s. We have not cleaned this pull. It is somewhat dirty, but we have chose to leave as is. The back plate could be polished to a bright brass.
The back plate measures 4 1/4 inches horizontally and 1 3/4 inches vertically. With the bail, however, the total drop is 2 1/2 inches. The hole centers for the two steel eye bolts is 3 inches. The decorated steel bail is 4 inches wide. Nuts are included for the eye bolts.
The Old Hardware Store currently carries over 250 patterns of Victorian pulls.
