Often we acquire hardware that was varnished years ago. This is an example of one. Hardware was fastened to the furniture and then the furniture was varnished including the hardware. The dark varnish, of course, gives the brass a deep tone, which may have been the purpose of the varnishing in the first place.
The drawer pull is stamped (or pressed) brass with a steel bail. The bail swings from two steel eye bolts. The plate measures 4 1/2 inches horizontally and 1 7/8 inches vertically. The total drop including the bail is 2 1/4 inches. The hole centers are 3 inches apart. The nuts are included.
The varnish can be removed; the plate polished; and you would have a bright brass drawer pull.
