This hinge is what we call a “sweetheart” hinge. It was made by the Stanley Works of New Britain, Conn. The company started in 1843, but in 1920 started to stamp their hardware with a heart, and, in this case, “made in USA” under the heart. The tribute, in part, was to their long-time president William Hart who served in that office from 1893 to 1919. This hinge dates from 1923 to 1932; we know this from the type of stamp.
The hinge has the ball finials. It measures 2 inches vertically and 1 1/2 inches horizontally. Each wing is 5/8 inch wide. It is steel.
We have cleaned this hinge; it is ready to use. Screws will be included.
