This pre-1900 Victorian door bolt is a surface mount piece that fastens at the bottom of the door in order to anchor the door to the floor. The bolt or plunger is pushed into the floor hole by stepping onto the platform. When one wants to release the bolt, the surface button is pushed which unlocks the bolt lock. It is spring loaded with a heavy, strong spring.
The bolt lock measures 5 1/4 inches vertically and 2 1/4 inches wide. It is heavy cast iron, weighing 15 ounces. It has a busy Victorian pattern and is beautiful.
The piece has been cleaned and oiled and is ready for use. Screws will be provided.
