This back plate by the Reading Hardware Company of Reading, Pennsylvania appeared in their catalog in 1897 with a pattern name of “Clifton.” It is stamped steel with a flashed copper finish. Through the years some of the flashing has faded, but the piece is still in good shape and quite lovely.
The back plate measures 7 1/2 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide. The opening for the door knob neck is 5/8 inch. The distance between this opening and the key hole is 2 inches. Mounting screws will be included.
