The company, which started manufacturing builders’ hardware in 1846, acquired the Metallic Compression Casting Company in the early 1870s and started to create compression bronze work. This window latch is an example of one of their ornamental hardware pieces. The company logo is stamped on the back of the latch.

The back plate of this heavy cast bronze latch measures 2 3/8 inches long and one inch wide. The keeper measures 2 3/8 inches long and 7/8 inches wide. The 3-inch swing arm works with a spring and fastens under the keeper’s “hook.” The latch stands or projects from the surface 1 1/4 inches.

This antique latch is a piece of art. It is in good working order. Screws will be provided.
