This Army-green colored box has no markings. We know, however, that it was carried home by a World War II vet. The wood is light weight and nailed together at the corners. It measures overall 17 inches long, 3 7/8 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches deep. There are five compartments. The wood dividers slide into a groove, so they can be removed, but there are only four grooves, so there is no choice for changing the size of the compartments, outside of removing one or more dividers. The lid is made out of a fragile fiber-board material or coated heavy cardboard. It moves on two old heavy hinges. There was a leather strap at one time that appears to have wrapped around the box, but it is gone. This may have been a first-aid kit box.
